Fellow Sierra Leoneans,
To feed the extravagant lifestyle and bloated govt of Sierra Leone, the administration has increased taxes across the board in the country.
Individual tax is up, business taxes have increased while Banks force businesses to close because those businesses could not meet loan payment schedules due to the devastating effect of Ebola on the businesses and the economy as a whole.
There are many duplicity in government appointments to create employment for party pundits.
As noted in the article, they have Youth Ministry fully staffed and functioning as a Ministry, then Youth Commission also fully staffed and has a line item for budgetary allocation and also a Youth Affairs Adviser who is well paid with great benefits like any head of an agency yet we still have over 60% youth unemployment despite spending more than $60 Million within the past 7 years on various youth development programs.
At one time I personally saw a $40 million youth employment funding proposal.
We have Press Attaché in at least 8 to 9 of our embassies around the world adding nothing of value to the lives of our people.
He has a whole department of Presidential advisers in State House mirroring almost every Ministry each highly paid with fringe benefits.
He has PROS for about every Ministry, Department and Agency of Government.
When flying abroad on endless meetings and seminars our government officials and sometimes with their entourages fly business class yet you have teachers and nurses left without adequate pay.
Each official of government is paid between $400 to $ 450 a day as per diem. This is happening when other Governments like the Government of Tanzania are being frugal to reduce govt expenditure yet Tanzania is far wealthier than Sierra Leone.
NASSIT has become the Cash Cow for the administration such that 15 to 20 years from now when most of those who have been and are still paying into the fund would be retiring, there would be nothing left to cover their pension payment because govt would have squandered most of it.
Now according to my contacts in the IMF and World Bank the administration is hell bent on going ahead with the Mamamah Airport Project which would slavishly put the shackles of debt to the tune of $300 Million on the neck of the next generation.
This cost does not include the usual cost estimate over runs.
All done at the expense of World Bank and IMF pulling out as they are threatening to do, sacrificing funding for education, funding healthcare, water supply, agriculture and more.
Soon when we run out of funds and we cannot get it elsewhere to fund these crucial socioeconomic services we would have to go again to China making us economic slaves to the Chinese.
Mortgaging the future generation just to acquire money to finance elections in the name of airport.
Those of us that follow China’s activities in Africa have seen this as a pattern by the Chinese to bankroll the elections of the ruling party of corrupt Governments in Africa.
They did it in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola and Mozambique and now they want to do it again for the second time in Sierra Leone.
This Airport project is not about Airport, it is more about access to money to finance the next election done at the expense of everything else including the future.
I once said perhaps on this page too that the Sierra Leone Government has become the employment agency for party pundits.
This is now taking it to a whole different level.
Please remember that my views are not out of any malice or hate but more so to protect the future of our people.
The truth is, if this government begins to do what we know is right to secure a better future for our people we would support them and help in their efforts.
Moreover, this is not politics to me but my moral duty as a Sierra Leonean and so it should be for you all.
We cannot continue to be silent while they Mortgage the next generation.
Please Feel free to share.
So please let them show us plans that works in the best interest of SL and we would support accordingly.
